This vision endures in the university’s current vision document, Dare to Discover, and our academic plan, Dare to Deliver. Under the leadership of our 12th president, the U of A and its community have created a contoured roadmap for the future—a roadmap that guides this comprehensive, research-intensive university as one of the world’s most respected public universities. Governance: The University of Alberta is a board-governed public institution whose board members include representatives of the public, staff, faculty, and students, including representatives of the Students’ Union and the Graduate Students’ Association. Senate: The Senate is an independent advisory body of community leaders that plays a critical role in linking with our community and enhancing the reputation of the university. The Senate also selects honorary degree recipients.
